Dressage Canada Introduces the M.H. Lessard Volunteer Awards

The equestrian community lost one of its greatest advocates and passionate volunteer with the recent, untimely passing of Marie-Helen Lessard, lovingly known by her nickname MH.

In recognition of the enormous volunteer contribution and to honour the values of volunteering that the late Marie-Helen Lessard brought to the Canadian equestrian community, in particular to Dressage Canada, the Dressage Canada Board unanimously agreed to re-dedicate our existing annual ‘Volunteer of the Year Award’ as the ‘MH Lessard Volunteer of the Year Award’. Canadian Dressage Team Named for World Equestrian Games

2014 WEG

The Dressage Canada Selection Panel is pleased to announce the names of the Canadian Dressage Team who will compete in the 2014 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games (WEG) in Normandy, FRA August 23 – September 7, 2014. Selected according to the qualification thresholds and selection procedures, four rider/horse combinations are named to the Team.

Named to the Team in alphabetical order are:

  • Megan Lane / Loretto, ON / Caravella (Contango x Riverman), a 13-year-old Canadian-bred Dutch Warmblood mare / rider
  • David Marcus / Campbellville, ON / Chrevi’s Capital (Chrevi’s Cavallo x Weinberg), 14-year-old Danish Warmblood gelding / Deborah Kinzinger Miculinic
  • Karen Pavicic / Surrey, BC / Don Daiquiri (Don Cardinale), a 12-year-old Oldenberg gelding / rider and Jayne Essig
  • Belinda Trussell / Stouffville, ON / Anton (Antaeus x Melit), a 14-year-old Sachsen gelding / Robyn Eames
